wow, that’s nearly impossible to answer lol. i think the Smashing Pumpkins take the cake on that one. i could list some others that belong there and some artists belong in different periods of my life, but the Smashing Pumpkins have stayed with me in an utterly extreme way for over 15 years. not necessarily anything they’ve done recently unfortunately—but that’s ok—the awesomeness of their albums throughout the 90s still resonate strong with me in a very very profound way. their style is so dynamic and filled with emotion, they were very prolific with tonnes of great b-sides and rarities, always climactic, and while the music was at times depressing there was always a glimmer of hope shining through. truly beautiful.
